Someone Just Realized a Video Uploaded in March 2013 Is Of New Orleans Saints LB Junior Galette Hitting a Woman With a Belt and Punching People During a Fight on a Beach

NOLA –  Embattled New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette, already scheduled to meet with NFL officials at the league office in New York later this month about his off-field conduct, could have more trouble on his hands. In a YouTube video titled “Spring Break 2013 South Beach Brawl” and published March 25, 2013, Galette strikes a woman twice with a belt in the midst of a scuffle. The melee was recorded and posted by an onlooker. The Saints were aware of the video and sent it to the NFL office. “We were made aware of the video and we sent it to the league office,” Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said. “There is a process this will go through at the league-office level and we are waiting on that to be determined.” Galette’s attorney Ralph Whalen told several media outlets it’s not his client in the video. The NFL had no comment on the video.  At the 14-second mark of the clip a woman wearing a swimsuit top and green shorts approached Galette, who again swung his belt, striking her at least twice. One of the onlookers shouted “You’re going to jail!” as Galette was escorted away. Galette reappeared at the 1:18 mark of the video without sunglasses and shoved several people before throwing a punch as two others fought. The recording lasts 1:44. The beach fight is the latest incident in a turbulent offseason for Galette. Galette, 27, was arrested for simple battery involving domestic violence on Jan. 5 at his home in Kenner after a 22-year-old woman called police and alleged that Galette beat her. The charge against Galette was dismissed Feb. 19 after Kenner city attorney Mike Power said interviews with witnesses cast doubt on whether the alleged victim was a member of the household.

Can you imagine being Galette and knowing this video is out there? He must have been a bag of nerves ever since the Ray Rice situation happened. Tossing and turning in his sleep, knowing that one day this video could see the light and he’d be cooked. Well that day has come. And if I had to guess, the NFL will frown upon one of their players beating a woman with a belt on a beach, even if it was two years ago. Especially if it just so happens to be the same player who has a domestic violence arrest on his rap sheet. Woops! And probably the saddest part of the entire video is an NFL linebacker has to use a belt in a fight. C’mon man. You gonna low-blow someone next? Honestly, who takes off their belt and starts whipping it like it’s Weird Haircut Seth? (horse version…well…whichever) If anything, Goodell should suspend him for that. Can’t have your players getting in public fights and breaking the unwritten rules of brawling. Just not a good look for the league.
