According to several sources, the Illinois High School Association will announce Wednesday that the basketball season can start as scheduled. It’s a totally unexpected move that directly contradicts the guidelines Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health outlined on Tuesday.
Pritzker and the IDPH put winter sports on an indefinite hold and moved basketball from a medium-risk sport to a higher-risk sport in the IDPH guidelines.
‘‘As with sports in the fall, nothing is ‘canceled,’ just put on hold until we’re through the thick of this pandemic,’’ Pritzker said in a statement.
According to the IHSA calendar, basketball practices are scheduled to start on Nov. 16 and the first games can be played on Nov. 30
Play that shit Lupe!!!
Holy shit people are sick of this virus. The IHSA, which everyone knows is a total scumbag organization in and of itself, is directly telling the head honcho in Illinois "fuck off" when told they can't start their season on time…. and I kinda love it. Never in a million years did I think I'd be defending the IHSA, but 2020 keeps on doing 2020 things.
I'm not trying to come off as one of those morons who completely disregards this virus, says "fuck masks" or anything like that, especially because it didn't really affect me at all, but at the same time I can fully admit that this thing is here to stay for a while. It's making itself right at home and until there's a vaccine, it's gonna keep on making itself at home. That's just the unfortunate truth right now.
So with that said, we have to figure out a way to sort of coexist with it until there's a vaccine. That's just how it is at this point. No idea how we can do that, but I don't think shutting down every single walk of life we're accustomed to as Americans is the way to go, personally. That includes HS sports, restaurants, bars, churches, etc. Those things are the lifeblood of our country. It makes or breaks people's livelihoods. Stats show that the vast majority of HS kids can contract the virus and be fine. That's not me being obtuse, those are statistical facts. We just need to figure out a way to protect those who won't be fine should they contract the virus, which is a much smaller part of the population. No idea how we do that, but thankfully we have leaders and scientists and a bunch of other smart people we've elected to figure shit out when shit needs to be figured out. Shutting down the entire state just isn't a practical way to go about that IMO. So….. figure you're shit out elected leaders! That's exactly why you're fucking here.
Sounds rational to me. But then again I'm a lowly internet blogger, so wtf do I know.
