Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - June 12th
Welcome back to the DraftKings segment where we try to get rich playing daily fantasy sports and I spitball some of the guys I’m thinking about playing for the night. Been hot, hot, hot lately and trying to keep the gravy train rolling tonight with a monster slate of Friday games. Quick recap of last night first –
I don’t usually do the picks blogs on Thursdays because the slates suck so bad but I threw a couple of teams together and it went well –
(Just thought I had to offer up a little proof after I got Twitter bullied.)
Total Chad Ford move on my part with that tweet but whatever, my DFS homies want to know how I’m doing, so I keep them apprised.
Anyway, on to my hunch plays for tonight…
PITCHER
King Felix $11.3K
Sooooo many aces on the mound tonight. Seriously as much as short slates suck, slates like this stress me the hell out. Look at all those names up there! Kershaw, Felix, Price, Bumgarner. Then you got the young hotshots that are expensive now too like Salazar and Pineda. And if you roll with one of them, you need to dip down for a high-risk cheapo guy just so you can squeeze any hitters whatsoever in. Man DFS is going to give me a LeBron hairline at this rate.
For my money the guy I’m spending up for is Felix. He’s $1.5K cheaper than Kershaw and facing off against a team that strikes out like crazy. Of course you never know when the Astros bats are going to explode, and if that happens and you don’t get at least 25 points from your 11.3K pitcher, you’re cooked. But he’s one of the best pitchers in the game with a solid matchup so that’s where I’m going to put my trust.
OF Mike Trout $5.1K
I LOVE playing Mike Trout when he’s hot and when the Angels are hot. He’s the best player in baseball and is priced below 4 other outfielders, which basically makes him a value play in my mind. If you can’t squeeze him in because you’re targeting higher priced pitchers tonight then I totally get that, but I think I’m going to do everything I can to sneak him in because with the way he has been hitting, it’s a virtual lock for double digit points.
OF Nelson Cruz $4.7K
If I’m going Felix then I’m going to get him some back up. Team chemistry, it’s important even on your fake fantasy lineups, trust me. Cruz mashes lefties and has a great matchup with a shitty one tonight, and even better, his price dropped big time because of a really brief injury break with some back spasms. Assuming he’s back in the lineup tonight (which he said he would be), I’m feeling a homer from Cruz tonight.
1B Adrian Gonzalez $3.9K
Kind of weird here because I know for a fact that Despaigne stinks…yet Vegas has the Dodgers total very, very low. I guess because of the ballpark? So while that might scare me away from higher priced LA bats here, A-Gon at 3.9K seems like a steal. He may be slumping lately but he is still hitting cleanup against a crappy pitcher at a really good price.
VALUE PLAY 3B Brock Holt $3.1K
The Sox are right up there with the Rangers as the two highest team totals tonight, by a pretty good margin. So Vegas thinks they are going to score a bunch of runs, and their 2-hole hitter (who is a constant threat for SBs) is only $3.1K? That’s what I like to call a cash money value play right there.
…
It’s a massive slate with a million players going so if you have any under-the-radar or gut feeling plays, definitely let me know @kmarkobarstool. Also keep in mind that I just started doing this a few months ago – I may be on a hot streak lately, but nobody knows more than me that it will come crashing down soon, so make sure you do your own research and check out what the real experts are saying about tonight. I don’t want you dickheads yelling at me on Twitter that I ruined your lineups, I get enough shit-talkers in my day job.
Good luck!
