Logic Paid Over $200,000 For This Pokemon Card His Kid Is Chewing On

This picture just showed up on my timeline. A baby eating a Pokemon card. But being the smart internet guy I am, I thought to myself, "there's something more going on here". So I zoomed in and saw it was a gem mint Charizard card. Sure. So I did want any normal functioning brained person did and typed "gem mint Charizard card" into Google. And this is what I found:

PSACard - Once again, the rare 1999 Pokémon Charizard card has made headlines with a historic $220,574 sale concluded by Iconic Auctions on Friday. It’s the highest auction price ever realized for a 1999 Pokemon Base Set Charizard in PSA GEM-MT 10 condition. In Pokemon TCG circles, this card is the equivalent of the sports world’s 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle, 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee #18 Wayne Gretzky, or 1986-87 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan.

They just compared this card to Jordan, Mantle, and Gretzky. Pretty cool for them to be in the same company as Charizard. And who bought it? None other than "retired" rapper, Logic.

A PSA 10 1st Edition Base Set Charizard has never lacked a spot in the hobby spotlight, but this stunning example recently caught the eye of former rapper and now Twitch streamer, Logic.

As an interesting side note, Logic struggled to collect Pokémon cards when he was younger and explained what this most recent acquisition meant to him in an Instagram post.

“When I was a kid I absolutely loved Pokémon but couldn’t afford the cards,” he wrote. “I remember even trying to trade food stamps for theirs and now as an adult who has saved every penny he has made being able to enjoy something that I’ve loved since childhood now as a grown man is like buying back a piece of something I could never have, it’s not about the material it’s about the experience.”

That's exactly what I would do if I was rich. I'd be buying shit just because I couldn't buy it when I was younger. Wouldn't even matter what it was. That SuperSoaker with the water tank that you could strap to your back? Purchased. That Olie Kolzig poster from the Scholastic Bookfair? Purchased. Every WWF Attitude Era t-shirt that said "Suck It" on it? God damn right, purchased. There's no point of being rich if you don't go back in time and buy everything you could never buy as a kid.

So why is he letting his baby eat this $200,000 Pokemon card? Why not? Gotta teethe on something. A $200,000 teething ring. Not the worst flex I've ever seen.

PS: I understand the card is in a hard case, but still, he paid over $200k for it!!!!!! I mean…come on. He tossed a Lambo to his baby to chew on!
