OK, this is pretty cool. I don't care who you root for, if you like or hate the Lakers, this is cool to see. The tragic passing of Kobe Bryant impacted everyone, not just Lakers fans. It still feels crazy that he's not here to experience this championship. So when we talk about what this title means for the city of Los Angeles, you can see it's more than just about LeBron /AD or the Lakers finally getting back to the top of the mountain. It's about Kobe. Not just for the players but for the fanbase as well.
It is a little weird considering this championship doesn't change the reality of the situation, but I don't think that's the objective here. People just want to honor their hero and it is fitting to do that with a championship when you're talking about Kobe. I'm sure this will happen again at whatever type of parade we get, and that's fine by me. Lakers fans can be insufferable at times, but they got this one right.
