Movie Death Match Tournament: Final Four

We have made it to Round 3 of this Movie Character Death Match Tournament.  I chose movie characters that don’t rely solely on guns, since bringing a knife/sword to a fictional gun death match would usually result in some pretty awesome characters losing just because of the weapon they had.  And I don’t want to stack this tournament where a guy like Braveheart or Predator could just crush the field.  We will admittedly be starting out with only a few heavy hitters in this tourney.  But if this tournament is a success, I will do different ones using different genres and other great characters.  Anyway, here are the rules.

  1. Seeding and opening matchups are drawn at random.  Sometimes you have a beatdown in the first round, sometimes you have a matchup of two powerhouses, like Clippers/Spurs in the playoffs this year.
  2. Each matchup is a fight to the death.
  3. Competitors are allowed to bring any item that is generally associated with them.  Example: Batman would have all his gadgets, Link would have his sword, Indiana Jones would have a whip, etc.  The items the fighters have will be noted in the blog.
  4. Tie-breakers are decided by a coin flip.

(Listen to this as you go through the tournament and make your votes)

Round 3:

Indiana Jones  vs. Rocky

Tale of the Tape: Indy again comes into the matchup with the brains and whip, while Rocky comes in with the muscles and the iron will.  At first blush, Rocky would appear to be the favorite based on the physicality of the fight.  But Indy has killed in his movies.  Don’t discount that bloodlust coming back out when it matters most.  Both are American heroes and one of them will be representing the stars and stripes in the finals.

The Beast vs. Maximus

Tale of the Tape: Maximus does have experience fighting animals, killing the chained up tiger in that awesome fight scene.  However in this battle, The Beast is much bigger than the tiger, isn’t chained up, and has opposable thumbs.
