Professional Go-Kart Racer Throws Bumper At Rival, Tries To Fight Him, Immediately Retires From The Sport

And that right there is how you go out with a bang. Some folks like to leave with class and dignity, but this Luca Corberi cat has a flair for the dramatic. And you know what? I totally get it.

I mean this guy probably spent his whole life dreaming about being a race car driver. But the thing about dreams is that some times they are just that--dreams. And at some point or another, dreams are over. Luca Corberi has been driving karts around ever since he was a young lad. Just like every other small child who doesn't have a drivers license but still wants to rip. But he's a man now. He probably had to realize the dream was over. But does he just want to fade out into Bolivian? Not a chance. He still has one last chance to be the biggest name in racing for at least a couple of days. So it's time for the bumper throw.

But we can all admit that bumper throw probably wasn't nearly as satisfying as he was hoping it would be. Pretty uneventful and it looks like the only other karter who even got hit with it was just some rando. You throw a bumper onto the track at an opponent, chances are you are fucked. And if you're going to be fucked, you might as well get your money's worth out of it. So Luca Corberi wasn't done just yet.

Do professional karts need enforcers? Unfortunately it would appear that the only one has just left the sport for good.

BBC - Luca Corberi, 23, threw his bumper at opponent Paolo Ippolito in anger after crashing at the Karting KZ World Championships in Lonato, northern Italy, on Sunday.

"I have decided not to take part in any other motorsport competition for the rest of my life," Corberi said.

Blaze of glory. Only way to go.
