How about that?! Just when everybody thought LeBron would breeze his way to his fourth ring, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have made this a series.
What a freaking performance by Butler. Before tonight, the Marquette product had scored at least 30 points just twice during this magnificent playoff run, so what did he do about it? A casual 40-11-13 night to put the team on his back.
I'll be honest. Although the Heat were in control of this one for the majority of the game, I was waiting for the Lakers to punch back and run away. But Jimmy was not going to let that happen. With no Bam and no Goran, it was this man's responsibility to give Miami a fighting chance in this series.
Butler may have stood out in the box score, but the other guys certainly did their part. Four other players scored at least a dozen points, including Kelly Olynyk's 12 off the bench, Jae Crowder and Duncan Robinson combined for 25, and Baby Goat himself, Tyler Herro, gave us a meme to bookmark for future use.
Obviously, it is still going to take A LOT for the Heat to even up this series and potentially win it. If Adebayo and Dragic continue to be sidelined, the aforementioned role players need to keep bringing the production to help Butler out. There's a long way to go, but don't count out that Heat culture. Until Tuesday night...
