This Helmet Is the First Cool Thing Vanderbilt Has Ever Created

I have gone back and forth several times since I saw this helmet design as to whether I love it or hate it. I hate Vanderbilt University in general, but I think I'm a very fair person and will give credit where it is due.

I think my final conclusion is that these helmets are a little busy, but pretty great on the whole.

The Nashville skyline gets me. That's dope. I have long said that there was some sort of glitch in the matrix for Vanderbilt to have a beautiful campus in the best city in the country while the University of Tennessee is in the middle of downtown Knoxville — nothing against Knoxville, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the state capital.

I maybe wouldn't have gone with two side logos in addition to the skyline on the back, but there is simply no denying that this is a fantastic football helmet. I hope it brings Vanderbilt no additional success on the field — I'm sure we don't have to worry about that — but they deserve to have a nice thing every once in a while. All that said, though, good football teams don't have alternate uniforms. They line up and beat you.

So while the helmet is still fire, Vandy is still a bunch of pretentious assholes whose football team will never be worth a damn.
