Im on about my fourth listen to the album today and let me tell ya... It's fucking good. It's so rare to see an artist who stays true to what his fans like. Garth did it for a long time. Chris Stapleton is doing it. Willie has been doing it for decades on end. Colter is another one of the Canadian Cowboys who rides the range in the prairies of Saskatchewan.
Picture yourself with a nice Rye whiskey coming in after running wire on your ranch all damn week. Colter is on a dusty stage flanked by an old piano that hasn't been played since Jesus was a child. The piano serves only as an out-of-tune coaster for Colter's glass, an ashtray, and a few extra picks for the beaten and beautiful workhorse Martin Guitar. Like a wine from Napa, it's getting better with age. The notes get deeper and more true as the years go by. It's no wonder why they call a cowboy's merlot his guitar.
Belly up to Spotify's bar and enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime voice of the 14th Premier of Saskatchewan's son.
