Elsa. Getty Images.Holy fuck. What a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day in Philly sports. First up you had the Phillies losing to the dog shit Red Sox. But no big deal because 1) the Phillies are pretty dog shit themselves, and 2) it's only the regular season.
But then you had the Sixers (aside from Embiid) look like the most pathetic sacks of shit to ever step foot on a basketball court. Brett Brown is a useless fuck. Al Horford needs to retire. Tobias Harris is makes about as many mistakes as dollars he gets paid per season. This team STINKS. They're big time dead to me.
But then the one team in Philly that you can count on, the Flyers, can't come out and put away the Canadiens tonight. I mean they had plenty of chances. They lucked out and got a 5-minute powerplay after a pretty brutal misconduct call on Kotkaniemi. Make no doubt about it, that call sucked. Not a chance in hell should that have been 5 and a game in a playoff game. But the Flyers caught a lucky break and the worst powerplay in the playoffs ended up cashing in 2 goals on that powerplay alone. But immediately after taking the lead, the Habs tied it up. And immediately after tying the game, the Habs took the lead. But then guess what. The Flyers go out and they get themselves ANOTHER powerplay goal. The worst powerplay in the playoffs ends up getting THREE (3) tucks on the uppers.
Jake Voracek had a monster game. 2 goals, 1 assist, plenty of chances throughout the night. This was a performance that you simply could not waste. But what does Alain Vigneault go and do?
He puts the fucking 4th line and the 3rd D pair out there on the very next faceoff, and they get scored on 30 seconds later.
Are you kidding me, AV? What the hell is going through your brain, dude? Are you drunk? This was a massive momentum shift in the game and you're going to follow it up by putting fucking Nate Thompson and Justin Braun out on the ice? Beyond idiotic.
And I know that AV deserves so much credit for getting the Flyers to this point. I know that the mistakes he's made this season have been very few and far between. But this game tonight? This loss? This is 100% on AV for that decision. Nate Thompson? Are you kidding me. That's who you go with when you get the momentum on your side with 9 minutes left in the game. Dear god.
Anyway, today has sucked. I'm sure plenty of you will get a ton of enjoyment out of Philly fan's misery. So if you're going to be a dick about it, the least you can do is make sure I get some pageviews out of it. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your enemies. Click away.
