Pour one out for the Carolina Hurricanes because the The B's just burst their bubble.

The Canes opened the scoring with an absolute rocket from Haydn Fleury. He's been one of Carolina's best players in this series. 1-0 Carolina after 1.

Midway through the 2nd David Krejci scored the equalizer on the PP. Bergeron was hooked on a breakaway attempt and the B's made work on the man advantage. 1-1 late in the 2nd.

With 3.5 seconds left in the 2nd Patrice Bergeron gave the B's their first lead of the game, from behind the net just slid the puck into Mrazek's feet and in. Martinook was in the box for blasting Kase's head into the boards. The Bruins took a 2-1 lead into the 3rd and didn't give it up.

The Canes couldn't generate much in the 3rd, David Krejci missed an open net on a PP and hit the crossbar, but it didn't matter.. That was all she wrote for round 1.

FINAL: Boston 2, Carolina 1

News, notes and quotes:

- The Spaghetti Man Returns: David Pastrnak returned to the lineup for the first time since Game 1 to the tune of 2 assists. Anders Bjork sat. Pasta had a few breakaway attempts but no dice. It'll do him well to get some days off as well before the start of the 2nd round.

- Playoff David Krejci. What more can I say? His goal today on the PP tied things up in the 2nd, and he officially has recorded a point in every game this series. It's amazing what happens when you give him two solid linemates. Just dominated the series.

- Man is Haydn Fleury a player. He was a thorn in the B's side all series long. Obviously when Svechnikov went down Carolina's chances did as well.

- I'd die for Patrice Bergeron. That is all.

- The PP was a perfect 2-2 through 2 periods, couldn't convert their 2 opportunities in the 3rd but man their PP turned it on late in this series.

- I could write a whole blog about how well Charlie McAvoy played this series. Holy fuck was he nails.

- Jaro Halak with a much better game than Monday. 23 saves on 24 shots. Rock solid. He's got the net going forward and now we go.

No word quite yet on who the B's will play in the 2nd round since everyone reseeds, but here are the scenarios.
