Fernando Tatis Jr. Had To Apologize For Hitting a Grand Slam Last Night Because The Unwritten Rules Of Baseball Fucking Suck

Baseball loves to do this thing where they get in the way of themselves any time they have the chance to have a great moment. They simply love doing it and refuse to stop. Take last night for example. Padres phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. continued his explosion into baseball stardom. He's quickly turning into the face of baseball as someone who is absurdly talented while being flashy, cool, exciting, and loud. When Tatis Jr. does something in a game you hear about it immediately.

Last night he launched this grand slam, his second homer of the game, over-taking Mike Trout for the league lead. Old school baseball has since made him apologize for hitting said grand slam because the Rangers suck at pitching.

I've never been angrier at the game than right now. We're now SHAMING someone from swinging the bat and hitting a grand slam? WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE???? We're trying to GROW the game and make the sport look awesome by saying we should be taking pitches instead of swinging for the fences and doing something awesome. Mind bottling. Truly mind bottling.

This all started with Rangers manager Chris Woodward crying after the game about not playing the game the right way.

Chris Woodward interviewed to be the Yankees manager during the time they hired Aaron Boone. I am currently thanking my lucky stars they didn't choose this bag of milk pussy to run my favorite team. Holy shit what a loser. You simply cannot be softer than this if you tried. Hey dude you don't want guys launched grand salamis off your shitty pitchers? Pitch better. Don't throw a ball on 3-0 down the dick and expect it to come back. Don't load the bases. Don't go down 7 runs. Why does Fernando Tatis Jr. owe you a free pitch? He doesn't. Oh your feelings got hurt? Suck my dick.

Next Fernando felt he had to apologize for hitting the grand slam.

Baffling. I'm not knocking Tatis Jr. here because he was clearly told to do this, but it would have been awesome if he told Woodward to go fuck himself. I would've bought a jersey last night on the spot. Go full McGregor and take your time to apologize to absolutely nobody. The Padres would have been forced to build him a statue overnight.

Padres manager Jayce Tingler went out of his way to defend the Rangers and going against his own guy.

Hey pal why don't you stand up for your own player who happens to be a bonafide superstar? No, instead you chose to defend unwritten rules that were made by guys that played 60+ years ago. The Rangers threw behind Manny Machado on the very next pitch following the slam and Machado's skipper opted to defend that instead!!

The Padres just exploded for 14 runs after a 5 game losing streak and here was Tingler siding with the Rangers and "the way the game should be played." Grow a spine dude. Stand up for your superstar.

Let me remind you we're in the midst of a 60 game sprint to the finish where every game matters more than ever. I've seen seven run leads blown late in games before. We all have.

It's baseball, literally anything can happen. There's no time limit in this sport. All it takes is one big rally and poof you lead off SportsCenter because you were the victim of a crazy comeback. Seven run lead, your best player up with the bases loaded on a 3-0 count. Swing for the goddamn clouds every goddamn time. The Rangers had six outs to work with. Nothing was a done deal as far as I'm concerned. And to be honest, I've always treated not trying as a bigger insult than running up the score. That's just how I view sports personally. Don't insult me by calling off the troops.

I'm sure we'll have our fair share of baseball purists coming from all angles defending Woodward, but it was nice to see current players take the side of Tatis Jr.

Let the kids play. Give me all of the grand slams possible. No lead is ever safe. Fuck Chris Woodward and Jayce Tingler. I hope Tatis Jr. never takes a 3-0 pitch for the rest of his life.
