DRAFT DAY MADNESS: Browns Are Trying To Land Sam Bradford, Fletcher Cox May Be On The Table To Get The Titans #2 Pick

b

PFT – With the Eagles lacking sufficient trade chips to get to the second pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and Marcus Mariota, it appears they’re working on the process. Peter King of Sports Illustrated said a source told him the Browns think they have a good chance before the draft starts to acquire Eagles-for-a-minute quarterback Sam Bradford. That would line up with the potential three-way deal we’ve been talking about here for a week, checking off a lot of the boxes that the Titans, Browns and Eagles would need. Presumably, the Eagles would get one of the Browns’ first-rounders in any exchange for Bradford, to put with their own 20th pick (though there would likely be other moving parts in that deal).

Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that Fletcher Cox is viewed as a potential trade piece for the Eagles. Other players the Eagles have reportedly considered trading include quarterback Sam Bradford, guard Evan Mathis, cornerback Brandon Boykin and linebacker Mychal Kendricks. But Cox would probably be the biggest prize of them all: The 12th overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Cox has started all 16 games at defensive end each of the last two years and has a very affordable salary of $1.8 million this year, followed by his fifth-year salary of $7.8 million next year.

Annnnddddd we still got 6.5 hours to go. Buckle up and expect anything and everything today. This is gonna get batshit.

In all honesty, I’m fine with giving up a mix, or all, of Bradford, Mathis, Boykin, Curry, Kendricks and 2 at least 1st rounders for Mariota. All of them are talented, yes, but all are in the final year of their contracts. Chip probably wouldn’t shell out cash to extend any of them (baring if Bradford actually stays and does well, but that’s a moot point cause if he’s on the team that means Chip didn’t get St. Marcus of Mariota). However, there better be a way to keep Cox on the roster. The man is a young superstar at a thankless position. Stand your ground on keeping him, Chip. Don’t fire till you see the whites of their eyes.

How about the freaking Browns? The only way Bradford will be successful in the NFL at this point is if he’s surrounded by a decent squad. Cleveland ain’t even what we call “OK”. Ray Farmer’s just slinging shit against the wall and hoping a franchise QB manifests itself. Cue the video:
