Calling this a "hype" video might have been a bit of a stretch considering the tone was calming instead of resounding. They probably should've had Sam Elliott do the narration because that is the quickest way to make any video a 10/10. The overall message though...the John McDonough "One Goal" era is over. "All For One" is that new new. How that message evolves and if it becomes a rallying cry beyond this stretch with covid-19 and returning to play I don't know. It is just nice to have a clear indication that there is a new sheriff in town. A new voice. A new direction. Hopefully more changes are coming because they're needed.
I can't shake this feeling that a real shake up in Hockey Ops isn't coming other than the shuffling of titles we saw a couple weeks ago. Promotions, demotions, reassignments, different roles, it's still the same people that traded away this
Someone asked me on twitter the other day when was the last time the Blackhawks definitively came out on the right side of a trade. The Caggiula for Manning trade was good, but it never should've been possible because they shouldn't have signed Manning to begin with. I like the Strome-Schmaltz trade but that is hardly a slam dunk. Teravainen, Danault, Panarin, Saad, Hjalmarsson, it's a long run of valuable assets being traded for less than market value because all the guys in charge seemingly don't have the ability to evaluate internally. You don't know what you got til it's gone. Doesn't matter if it's a Selke candidate former first round pick for a couple of bottom rentals, a top 4 defenseman, an all-star forward, or a hall of fame coach, the current regime has made too many glaring mistakes that has derailed the organization to the point where they needed a pandemic and a 24-team playoff in order to keep their jobs.
I am happy that one era has ended in Chicago, I am #AllForOneMore era ending so we can get back to more meaningful summer time hockey.
