(Source)For runners, Marathon Monday is always a big day But for Rebekah Gregory DiMartino, this year’s race may have been the biggest. “This is the day….I take my life back,” she wrote on her Facebook page, Rebekah Gregory DiMartino’s New day New Hope The runner survived the Boston Marathon bombings two years ago. A year and a half later, after much treatment that failed to save the limb, her left leg was amputated in November. Wearing a Rebekah Strong shirt Monday, the Texas native ran the last few miles of the Boston Marathon. At the finish line, where the bombs went off just over two years ago, she dropped down and embraced the ground.

If you can watch that without getting a little teary eyed then you might need a pulse check. Amazing stuff from Rebekah Gregory DiMartino. One more brick as survivor’s continue to rebuild their lives and shove their incredible feats right down terrorist #2’s throat. Rebekah hopes to run the entire race next year but just getting out and running 3 miles when you just had your leg amputated less than 6 months ago is unreal. Seeing her get out there and, in her own words, “take her life back” is exactly the kind of moment the marathon is made for: remarkable triumphs of human will and determination. Hope they make #2 watch clips like this on repeat, Clockwork Orange style, for the rest of his life while he begs for it to be turned off.
