The Canucks And Flames Might Literally Kill Each Other Before This Playoff Series Is Over
Game 2 of the Calgary vs. Vancouver series ended with this line brawl that resulted in over 100 penalty minutes and the Flames’ head coach receiving a slap on the wrist in the form of a $50,000 fine. You can read the whole write-up here, but just to help you through your Monday, here’s a bunch of grown men squaring off and having a go.
Well luckily for all of us not on the ice getting our faces pummeled left and right, Game 3 of this series was filled with the same level of hostility that it ended with in Game 2. There wasn’t another line brawl, but there were plenty of fists flying around. First, we have that scumbag Alexandre Burrows taking a run at Johnny Gaudreau and having to answer to Kris Russell afterwards.
If you do as much as just look at Johnny Hockey* the wrong way, you deserve to get your face smashed in to a million pieces. If you hit him into the boards from a dickhead angle like that, you should die. Luckily Kris Russell was there to make sure Burrows knew he can’t get away with that shit, even though Burrows may have came out on top in that fight. Either way, Burrows is a scum. He received an instigator penalty at the time but the NHL has since rescinded that. He can play in Game 4. Hopefully someone takes his head off. Just a few moments later, we had Kevin Bieksa completely losing his damn mind and going after Michael Ferland. Safe to say the two don’t see eye-to-eye.
I’ve never liked Bieksa either. Actually, now that I think about it, the Canucks are probably one of the least likable teams in the league. Either way, this series has been a pleasure to watch so far. Calgary has the 2-1 lead but like I said the other day, this looks like it’s going to go the distance and take a full 7-games to wrap up. If things keep going the way that they’ve been so far, I think there will be some actual deaths to report soon. #FoilUp, boys.
*The world came so close to seeing Johnny Hockey’s first career playoff goal. Kid is a stud.
