Playoff Derrick Rose Is Back And It Feels So Good

Full disclosure it’s been a long weekend so this may get a little gushy but fuck it. Watching Derrick Rose play in the playoffs last night was everything. From the opening huddle when he had demonstratively taken things to another level to the end of the 4th when Thibs inexplicably still had him in the game. It was exactly what we needed. Driving, hitting threes, taking super efficient shots, all of it. Like I said yesterday my expectations are low, this isn’t like the Blackhawks where the switch can be flipped and you know you can rely on Championship level players. This is all an unknown for this Bulls team, but god damn am I going to enjoy the ride.

Other Notes From Last Night

– Wasn’t joking about D-Rose’s efficiency. Either went to the hoop or shot a three. Those three 3’s he hit in a row in the 3rd quarter, when was the last time that happened?

-Jimmy Butler was December Jimmy Butler. 8-14, 25 and 6. If we get that out of Buckets this team has a fighting chance.

-Thibs actually did a great job spreading around minutes last night especially having Brooks play 19 including a long stretch into the 2nd quarter, but with that said, what the fuck was that at the end? All the starters in up 15 with 2 minutes left? Those are the ones that make you lose sleep at night. Not to compare him to the best but would Pop ever risk that? Fuck no.

– I’m not going to get ahead of myself because the Bucks, well they’re still the Bucks.

– Taj was all over the glass last night and then of course he sprained his ankle again. Such a snakebitten year for him, let’s hope it was minor.

-Stoolie in Milwaukee tweeted me this one. Buttons are just a suggestion.

-Alright I’ll get a little sappy, Stacey breaking out the “Too Big, Too Fast, Too Strong, Too Good” during a playoff game put butterflies in my heart.

-Michael Carter Williams can probably still be a good pro, I say probably only because he’s really bad right now. Getting stuffed a few different times and a horrendous shooting night. He looked totally lost. Love to see more of that for at least the next 3 games.

-Jason, put on a tie, one time, it’s the playoffs.

-And we end with Thibs the cat, chasing a laser pointer……
