Jonathan Schoop Has Partially Torn PCL, Sprained MCL And I'm Sad

Just got done talking to you about Ubaldo getting ejected for hitting Sandoval. Well it just came out that second baseman Jonathan Schoop will miss a good amount of time for a partially torn PCl, and sprained MCL in his right knee. Orioles reporters say the ACL is clean, he won’t need surgery, and should be back towards the end of the year.

Just awful news. He looked like a completely different player than last year, and that’s a good thing. Wasn’t wildly swinging at bad pitches, had 3 homers, and continued to be a great fielder. Dan Duquette looks like a genius for his Everth Cabrera signing now because Cabrera, Jimmy Paredes, and Flaherty will most likely platoon at second after J.J. Hardy comes back.

Jonathan Schoop slide Panda

Reports are also saying that this injury wasn’t from the Panda slide, that it happened after Schoop awkwardly tripped over Mike Napoli’s ankle when he was reaching for the bag. People think it’s BS and that Panda’s 400 pound body barreling into Schoop had something to do with it. Not saying it was a dirty slide, cuz I didn’t think it was. The Orioles didn’t either. Maybe if Napoli learned to have his foot on the bag like an actual first baseman and not in the center of the bag this injury doesn’t happen. Whatever, next man up.

Hope this isn’t another situation where O’s doctors say he looks fine, but it turns out to be the worst case scenario (Manny both times, Wieters.) Get well soon Johnny Baseball.
