Look at this beautiful Swedish prince.
A little over 6 months ago, Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma which is a rare bone cancer. Fortunately for Oskar they were able to catch this pretty early on. So the diagnoses put an end to his hockey season but his real season was just about to begin. They started treatments right away and then at the end of April we got some great news that he was starting up his final rounds of treatments.
Now I don't know if he's completely out of the woods just yet but the fact that Oskar Lindblom is suited up and on the ice in June? Well that's the most important outcome that this Flyers season could have brought. Don't get me wrong--I'd love to see the boys taking a few laps around the rink at the end of the COVID Cup, but a healthy Oskar is all that really matters here. And it's only a matter of time before he's back out there for the real thing.
If you thought the Flyers were buzzing before, just think about what next year looks like when the entire team is still under contract and they have a whole year under Vigneault to build off of, and (hopefully) the whole squad is healthy. Good lord. Might have to change the name from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Radio Flyers because this squad is a certified wagon.
