Gus Duggerton and the Toledo Rockets are on an absolute roll right now. The team led by the reigning National Champion Head Coach swept tonight's triple header to move the Rockets (5-0, 3-0) into the driver's seat as we approach the midway point of this 2019 campaign. For organizational purposes, let's break down the evening on a game-by-game basis:
(5) Toledo 42, Bowling Green 16 - No issues in Game 1, as the Rockets win the Battle of I-75 Trophy with ease. Coach Duggs realizes he needs to create a better backdrop so that people do not think he is being held hostage while playing this magnificent video game.
(4) Toledo 42, Northern Illinois 7 - This one was a snoozer if you are a Duggs hater (hey there, poopystinks), and an awesome one if you love to see America's Coach thrive. We were introduced to Alonzo the Rocket and Coach Duggs changed his mind about a certain play often.
(3) Toledo 40, Miami (OH) 31 - This was the first true scare of the season for Coach Duggs and company. The RedHawks opened up a 14-0 lead, but the Rockets succeeded while facing the adversity. This game also produced one of the greatest non-fourth quarter plays we have ever seen in the Gus Duggerton era. Absolute madness. And finally, I would not be doing my job if I did not include this: PFT Commenter missed his first extra point of the season.
So, it was a huge success for the Toledo Rockets, and they are right where they want to be as we get set to wrap up the first half of the regular season and begin the second portion tomorrow. It's an afternoon clash with the Akron Zips, before hosting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in prime time. It all begins at 3:30 on the Pardon My Take Twitch Channel. We'll see you then.
