You can hear the baseball traditionalists from here lighting their torches and grabbing their pitchforks. Don't you dare put advertisements on baseball jerseys!! It's a sacred game! They were just finished getting bent out of shape over the Nike Swoosh, but now we're talking real advertisements like what the NBA and soccer do. Oh boy.
If you ask me, I don't care what you do to jerseys. Sure it will look weird for a little bit, but as with everything we'll get used to it. When the DL changed to the IL I said I would refuse to adapt. A month into the season I completely forgot the DL used to be a thing.
I don't care what it takes, just get me baseball on my TV. During the pandemic all sorts of businesses are trying to be creative in generating extra revenue. With ticket revenue not an option this is an easy way of bringing in more money. You've already seen the NBA do this with small patches and if you've watched the KBO at all you've seen it more and more. I really don't have a problem with this at all. If it gets the owners to allow more games to be played and leads us to a deal then I'm all for it.
Dallas is already thinking ahead.
P.S. Can't wait for the Rays, A's, and Pirates to be covered head to toe in ads. They're going to look like NASCAR cars.
