Playoffs Time, Bring On The Islanders
There it is. 82 regular season games in the book. After missing the playoffs under Adam Oates last season, the Caps bounced back in a big way this year, ending the season with 45 wins and 101 points. Not too shabby. Ovi will finish with 53 regular season goals and potentially another Hart Trophy. Holtby finishes with 41 wins and a season-long highlight reel. Can’t remember seeing a guy stand on his head more than Holts did this year since the days of Dominik Hasek in Buffalo.
And now, bring on the Islanders. Tavares vs Ovechkin. Amazing matchup. If the Isles win tonight, they get home ice. Lose, and home ice belongs to DC. In 4 regular season games, 3 went to OT. The Caps lost 2 of those in OT, won 1 in the shootout, and won the other game in regulation 5-2. During those 4 games, Ovechkin had 4 goals and 1 assist. So yea, I think he’s ready to see the Isles again.
Should be a good series. Even though they’ve struggled as of late, the Islanders are a good, physical team. But the Caps have more talent and Halak is not on his game right now. I expect the Caps, home ice or not, to move on to the second round.
