Isles Clinch Playoff Spot, Now Have Game In Hand Over The Rangers

Just get in, baby. Thats all that matters. Did we want to be limping into the playoffs like this? No. Did we want to tally only eight points in the final month of the season and let Ottawa trim a 22 point deficit down to 1? Most certainly not. After leading the Metro for the vast majority of the year we all expected a much different fate as the post season begins. But this is Isles Life. This is how it goes. Nothing is ever easy. Everything is always a roller coaster. Nothing goes according to plan.

The reality of the matter is, this team making the playoffs this year is still a big step for the franchise. I know that sounds lame after all the shit I talked but its the truth. They raised the bar unrealistically high with their stellar regular season play for a time. Fighting for a playoff seed in the middle of the pack is something any Islanders fan would have signed up for to begin this season. And so now there’s 2 things to remember:

1) That team that was the class of the Metro for months on end is somewhere deep down inside these guys. If fucking Capuano would let that team come back out again, there’s no reason to think we can’t wreak havoc in the playoffs. This team is too talented to keep playing this shitty. Plain and simple. Not gonna get fancy and flowery with the analysis. They’ve played like fucking GARBAGE for over a month now. There is too much talent on this team to not get it together and begin playing good hockey again. Again its going to have to be despite maybe the worst coach in the playoffs, but once that happens it doesnt matter what seed they are. Doesnt matter how the regular season ended. The Islanders will be a force to be reckoned with in Lord Stanley’s playoffs.

2) The Isles now have a game in hand over the Rangers. See you in the playoffs, you motherfuckers. 2nd round matchup with the Rags is going to be the scariest/most fun this city has had in a while.
