The Most Underrated QB In College Football May Be In The Big Ten

Heading into the season we're going to hear all about Trevor Lawrence & Justin Fields. They deserve the hype and will most likely be the top 2 picks in the NFL Draft come April 2021 (there's a fella in North Dakota who may be better, we'll talk about him one day).

If you look at the Heisman odds currently, there are 15 QBs before you see the name Tanner Morgan. That's not to say that Morgan is a value bet to win the Heisman, but are there truly 15 QBs better than him right now? I'd say no.

On top of the stats above, Tanner Morgan ranks 3rd in ESPN's QBR stat among returning QBs, only behind Justin Fields & Trevor Lawrence. His stat line from last year: 66% completion percentage, 30 TDs, 7 INTs (2.2% INT rate), and 3250 yards.

Morgan has weapons too, namely WR Rashod Bateman, who may be the best WR in the country not named Ja'Marr Chase. Losing Tyler Johnson (who received 38% of Morgan's targets last year) hurts Minnesota, but Bateman is a rare talent.

Minnesota's biggest issue will be their lack of returning talent on defense. They rank 125th in returning production on that side of the ball. If Fleck & Co. can figure that out? Minnesota may be in store for another great season. They get Michigan & Iowa at home and have to travel to Wisconsin. Outside of those 3 games, they should be favored in the rest. Their win total currently sits at 8.5 (-110) and +350 to win the Big Ten West.
