Jesussss, talk about your curveball there. Everyone and their mother had the Orioles taking Vanderbilt stud, Austin Martin with the second pick in this draft, but the Orioles gotta Oriole. They drafted wayyyyy under slot value and rolled the dice with Heston Kjerstad. This will help them later on in this draft with the 30th and 39th pick, I just don't like that they got cute with it. I thought this was the draft to take the best player available, which to EVERYONE ON EARTH was Austin Martin. God damnit, I don't get this at all. He's a great power hitter but I don't understand it. I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. Everyone had Austin Martin to the Birds. Mike Elias and company better have something solid up their sleeve at 30 and 39. Don't get me wrong, he's going to put holes in the warehouse, but this was not the pick I thought. They have several solid outfield prospects so this is one guy I didn't think they'd take. I'll have to watch a ton of film on him, but this isn't the pick I thought id be talking about tonight. I guess we have to trust in Mike Elias, but man that was a tough pick to watch. Overslot every other pick you make.
Guess I'll start eating.
