(Yeah, I know Zee wears the C but even he calls Bergy "my co-captain".)
We've seen quite a few posts and messages from NHL guys who sound like they did some serious self-reflection over the last week. Yesterday, Patrice Bergeron issued a heartfelt statement via the Bruins (he's not on social media). He also put his money where his mouth is and donated $25,000 each to the Boston chapter of the NAACP and the Centre multiethnique de Québec.
"Silence is not an option for me anymore."
"It is time to truly acknowledge this cry for help."
"I will not be quiet anymore."
Bergy doesn't do fake so you know his words and actions are sincere. He sounds genuinely troubled by things and wants to be part of the solution. Kudos to him for the donations and pledging to do more.
