MAJOR DEVELOPMENT: McCormick Is Releasing A Spicier Version Of Old Bay Called "Old Bay Hot Seasoning"

BizJournals –  You’re in luck if you were looking for more punch from your Old Bay. McCormick & Co. Inc. (NYSE: MKC) is launching Old Bay Hot Seasoning, a zestier variety of the Baltimore-area favorite. The Sparks-based spice maker describes the stronger seasoning as “kicked up” with more cayenne pepper. Old Bay Hot has sparked a bit of chatter — a shareholder asked about it at McCormick’s annual meeting at the end of March, and it’s supposedly going into a new version of Flying Dog’s Dead Rise beer. But it’s not the only new product McCormick is launching. The company debuted 20-plus others Thursday. They should be on store shelves now, according to a spokesperson. New products run from sauces for an early start to the grilling season to new flavored sea salt grinders to chili pepper-based seasonings. The new products fit under flavor trends McCormick predicted for the market going into this year, flavor trends like a growth in global spices.

By god! McCormick did it again! The Old Bay train just keeps rolling! You’d think maybe they’d start to rest on their laurels at this point (and deservedly so given they created the finest spice known to mankind), but nope. Not at all. It just keeps coming. It’s like MJ adding another element to his game. His game was already tops in the world, but he added the fadeaway jumper, just because he could. Just to reassert his dominance. That’s what this spice is going to be. Dominant. They went back to the drawing board and literally added some red hot heat to their arsenal. Old Bay is unstoppable. Just in time for summer too. Oh me, oh my. I can taste it already!
