Thank You, Seniors: (1) Tennessee Sends Leaders Off With One Last Victory in Knoxville

It wasn't pretty. In fact, it was pretty ugly. But Coach Duggs and the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers got the job done vs. the Vanderbilt Commodores this afternoon in a 36-25 win.

It was a snowy day at Neyland Stadium, and heading into it, the Class of 2017 knew it would be the final time they would be suiting up in Knoxville. So, QB Caleb Pressley and RB JoJo Smalls knew they had to make the most of it.

Tennessee eventually stretched its lead out to 21-7 late in the second quarter, but that's when Coach Duggs got a little too comfortable. It all started with an onside kick before halftime. Yes, an onside kick before halftime.

For a team that entered the game just 2-8, the Commodores will take being down by just four at the half 10 times out of 10. But unfortunately for them, JoJo Smalls came out of the locker room hungry for another trip to the end zone.

You have to tip your cap to Vandy, though. With nothing to play for but pride, they never gave up in this game. In fact, they really kept the top team in the nation on its toes, especially down the stretch.

But in the end, America's Coach let his football IQ shine. Smart play-calling combined with superb clock management eventually secured the final home win of the year.

It's off to Lexington tomorrow night to try and lock up the perfect regular season. The Vols have already clinched the SEC East and will be playing in Atlanta on Friday afternoon for the conference title. As a pair of great broadcasters once said...

We will see you tomorrow night.
