NFL Player Sues United Airlines for Sexual Harassment After a Female Passenger "Grabbed His Penis"

Source - An unnamed NFL player filed a lawsuit against United Airlines on Wednesday alleging the company failed to properly respond to his reporting of sexual assault and harassment during a Feb. 10 flight from Los Angeles to Newark, New Jersey.

Bleacher Report's Master Tesfatsion reported the player, who's listed in the complaint as John Doe 1, filed the suit in coordination with another male passenger (John Doe 2). They allege four complaints were made against a female passenger sitting in the same row for "unwanted sexual advances" before flight attendants moved her.

The player also said the woman was intoxicated and taking prescription pills, per Tesfatsion. He said the woman wasn't moved until she ripped off his face mask, which was being worn to guard against COVID-19, and grabbed his penis. ...

United has not commented on the NFL player's allegations.

Let's begin by pointing out the obvious "man bites dog" aspect of this story. It's just human nature that, if handed you a pile of those refrigerator magnets with the words on them and asked you to make a story out of:

  • NFL player
  • flight
  • red-eye
  • drunk
  • female
  • passenger
  • sexual
  • assault
  • harassment
  • touching
  • unwanted

... that 999 times out of a thousand average people would arrange them in a way that had some toxic male going all Bill Cosby on some poor scared woman. And it's totally reasonable to think that way. It's how our brains operate, based on tens of thousands of years of human behavior.

But that doesn't diminish this anonymous player's case one iota. One man's shot at the Mile High Club is another man's unwanted junk grab. Not every man is required to want to accept a handjibber from a stranger on a plane, just because most would accept it. Not all men are wired the same. NO has to mean NO.

Sure, the woman and the airline are both entitled to due process. But if the player's case gets proven, he's entitled to the same justice a Jane Doe would if some wet-brained, pill-addled asshole were getting all handsy with her. And if we're ever going to have equal protection under the law, he deserves to be compensated. I mean, I think I can speak for a lot of single guys who hope it doesn't discourage all women from propositioning strangers on red-eye flights. Just that basic decency compels her to stop once the man says he's not interested. That's only fair. So I think it's important that we as a society as well as our legal system respect a man's right not to have his bathing suit area grabbed against his will.
