KCCI-DETECTIVES HAVE CHARGED THREE GENERATIONS OF WOMEN FROM THE SAME FAMILY. THEY’RE ACCUSED OF TEACHING A NEW GENERATION OF CHILDREN HOW TO SHOP LIFT. IT HAPPENED AT AN EAST ORANGE COUNTY WAL MART THIS WEEKEND. WESH 2’S BOB KEALING JOINING US LIVE IN ORANGE COUNTY WITH MORE. YOU WENT TO THE OLDEST SUSPECT’S HOME. ARE THEY TALKING? THEY ARE. BUT CLAIMING THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT WE’RE ASKING. THE THREE ADULT WOMEN WERE ALLEGEDLY USING CHILDREN ACTIVELY GETTING THEM INVOLVED IN THE CRIMES BY USING THEM AS LOOKOUTS. FRIDAY NIGHT LOSS PREVENTION OFFICERS SAY THEY OBSERVES THESE WOMEN, 58-YEAR-OLD SYLVIA, 36-YEAR-OLD SHEILA AND 20-YEAR-OLD SHAYLENE WALKING AROUND THE WAL MART WHILE THREE MINORS ACTED AS LOOK OUPTS INVESTIGATORS SAY THE WOMEN SHOP LIFTED SHOES, SOCKS, BLOUSES, AND OTHER CLOTHING ITEMS CONCEALING THEM IN PURSES AND A BABY BAG. ALL OF THEM WERE ARRESTED. DCF INVESTIGATORS RELEASED THE CHILDREN TO THE CUSTODY OF RELATIVES. WE WENT TO SYLVIA PABONE’S HOUSE WHERE A DAUGHTER CLAIMED SHE DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WERE ASKING. IS TYPE OF MULTI-GENERATIONAL CRIME WITHIN FAMILIES HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THAN YOU MIGHT THINK.

Forget family reunions, family picnics or whatever the fuck people do with their relatives.  All that stuff is played out.  All that ever happens at those things is aunts and uncles get super hammered and reveal embarrassing secrets about the family that nobody wanted to hear in the first place.  Tears are shed.  Maybe a few punches thrown.  Just complete disasters.  At least that’s what goes on at my family reunions.  Anyway, I think these Pabons are onto something.  This is family bonding done right.  Have the three older generations go into the Walmart and rob it blind while the younger generations stay outside and act as lookouts.  Everybody feels like they’re important and have a role.  Nobody feels left out.  If you get it away with it, you have the memory of splitting the loot and enjoying the spoils of robbery.  If you get caught, you have the memory of going to jail and standing trial together.  A win-win no matter how you slice it.  It’s like the old saying: The family that commits petty thievery together, stays together.

PS- MFK for those three that got arrested?  Good luck getting that out of your head.
