Spring Training 2.0 June 10th? Opening Day July 1st? We're Getting Closer And Closer To Major League Baseball Being Back

This is pretty much everything we've been building towards over the last few weeks as baseball returning has become more and more of a possibility. June 10th Spring Training 2.0 gets cooking again. July 1st Opening Day. Which means July 4th we'll be able to celebrate America's birthday with baseball all goddamn day. Please give me that. You've already taken MDW from me, but don't screw me over on the 4th of July. Don't make me sit here watching 10 Nathan's Hot Dog eating competitions as I eat a tub of ice cream. No, I want live baseball. Obviously this isn't the most concrete source in the world, but Plouffe is still very tied to the game and I'm going to believe him because it's more fun that way.

Mush has said this on the podcast time after time and he's right: What we need is shit to look forward to. Dates. Give me a time frame and I can work with that. It's the waiting around unknown mystery that's killing us inside. If this rumor/report rings true then starting June 10th we'll start seeing out favorite players back in the news at camp. We might actually know if Aaron Judge's rib healed or if this was all a giant waste of time.

The best part is that they're playing in their own parks. None of that separation from families bullshit that was scaring off guys with expecting wives in the coming months. Everyone seems to win here if it works. I'd assume this would fall in line with the 3 divisions plan where travel would be limited. Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Nats, Phillies, Rays all in the same division. Buckle up. I know it's going to be weird but don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Tim Kurkjian said that on SportsCenter the other day and I can't stop repeating it in my head. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

Obviously this is still all hearsay at the moment, but things seem to be falling into place. I feel like we're not very far away from a Passan 3am bomb that confirms it all. I'm getting all tingly inside. I might actually get to see Gerrit Cole pitch for the Yankees this year. Holy shit balls.

Deep breaths people.

P.S. I love Phil Hughes
