This is what we in the industry like to call a good old fashioned force-out.  You get caught cheating and violating dozens of rules over the course of a decade and get blown up in public, you skate your way out of it and spare the university too much humiliation then have some quiet back door meetings to plan your easy exit.  Seen it happen a thousand times, even the great Jim Boeheim isn’t immune to it.

I’m obviously not the world’s biggest Boeheim fan but you’d have to be an idiot to not respect what the guy has accomplished.  966 858 wins, 47 tournament wins, 8 Big East regular season championships, 2 gold medals, a Naismith and AP college coach of the year, 4 Final Fours and a national championship.  College hoops won’t be the same without his curmudgeonly ass on the sidelines, but then again, we have 3 years to wait for it.
