(NY Post)--Part of the allure of “The Last Dance” is the chance to see and hear Michael Jordan, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight in retirement.
But it’s not for a lack of opportunities, some of which offered huge paydays. Jordan once turned down a two-hour, $100 million appearance, according to his former agent.
“I brought him a deal three years ago for $100 million. All he had to do was, other than giving his name and likeness, make a one two-hour appearance to announce the deal and he turned it down,” David Falk said Wednesday morning on WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio.”
Must be nice being a billionaire. So wealthy that you can turn your nose up at $100 Million. According to Forbes Jordan is worth 2.1 billion now. That is wealth though, not cash. I am still trying to figure out a way where it'd make sense for him to turn down $100 million. I can't get there. I mean what were they asking him to do? Run across one of those Nick Wallenda wires without a harness? Wiggle his dick? There is literally nothing. It's $100M. It would have to be something so degrading that it would damage his brand. Or I don't know, maybe he was just playing Pinehurst that day and said fuck it.
This brings me back to the argument John Salley made one time when he was asked if Jordan had a gambling problem. The interviewer asked if having millions of dollars out on a bet was a problem and Salley just shrugged it off. "A million? He could just call his agent and do one shitty commercial and get 7 times that". Ho hum, no big deal. There is no such thing as a gambling problem when it never actually impacts your bottom line. He'd have to like put up the Charlotte Hornets in a skins game before it'd make him worry. Even then he could just buy another team. Fucking MJ. The GOAT at everything including not needing anything.
