A Florida judge has one request for attorneys showing up for court hearings via Zoom: Get out of bed and put on some clothes! Broward Circuit Judge Dennis Bailey made the plea in a letter published by the Weston Bar Association, news outlets reported.
With social distancing and quarantines in effect, a lot of us have been thrown into the Zoom world. Whether it's business meetings, podcasts, or just seeing a friendly face, odds are you've been doing these virtual meetings. I don't know about you guys but I haven't put on a pair of jeans or nice pants in over a month. It's just been sweatpants and shorts for your boy. On the flip side, I have a friend who has actually worn jeans every single day of the quarantine. I've notified the authorities and proper measures will be taken to make sure when the world resumes he doesn't see the light of day. If you're wearing nice clothes these days in your own home you're a sociopath.
With Barstool we luckily don't have a dress code, even when the world is operating normally. You take a stroll through our office and you'll see about 50 different types of outfits: Dave rocking a three piece suit, Coley in a jump suit that costs $1000, Kmarko in some smart business casual, Carrabis in a Red Sox jersey, Mush in homeless people clothing, Walker in anything a recent school sent him to wear, the list goes on and on. As long as you get your work done, it doesn't matter what you wear. Unfortunately for other jobs, that doesn't appear to be the case.
Enter this Florida judge who has had it up to here with his virtual court hearings.
“It is remarkable how many ATTORNEYS appear inappropriately on camera,” Bailey said in the letter. “One male lawyer appeared shirtless and one female attorney appeared still in bed, still under the covers. Putting on a beach cover-up won’t cover up you’re poolside in a bathing suit,” he wrote.
We've got shirtless dudes, one female under the covers, and people posting up by their pool in bathing suits. Gasp!
BOOOOOOO!!!! Hey judge, how about you live a little here? The world is facing a global pandemic. Pardon me if I don't want to put on a tie and a belt to hear some bullshit court proceedings. Talk about being a fun sponge. We haven't been outside being normal humans in over a month. Don't try and bring that sense of normalcy to me right now. Let the people wear what they want. They've been through enough as it is. This is Florida for crying out loud, isn't this the norm as it is.
You would think of all places, Florida would be the one to allow this kind of behavior. Everything is truly upside down these days.
