Who ya got, world? A showdown of 2 classic franchises with some pretty polarizing fan bases. Because lets be honest, thats what its all about when your team isn’t in it. You pick the fan base that you hate most and root against them or you pick the fan base you like the most and you root for them. In this case I think its gonna mostly be people picking who they hate more.
I’ve already drawn a line in the sand against Cardinals fans. Very, very fucking clear where I stand with those loser ass Midwestern dicks. Most people keep asking me what I’m gonna do because I hate Boston but despise Cardinals fans. I can see why people would assume I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, but the fact of the matter is I love the Sox. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and the Yankees fans are my least favorite people alive. The 2004 Yankees Collapse was one of my favorite things ever – I will forever love the Red Sox for that shit. The Beards theme is probably infuriating to a lot of non Sox fans but the reality is those are the kind of guys and the kind of attitude everyone wants to root for. If you say you wouldn’t like rooting for this crew of guys, well, then you’re probably a douchebag Yankees fan talking about facial hair rules or a high horse Cardinals fans talking about unwritten sportsmanship and shit.
I realize its contradictory to hate Pats fans and love Sox fans but thats my paradox. If the Mets are out of the picture, like they always are, the next most important thing is anything that brings the Yankees pain brings me joy.
So right now like 99% of me wants the Sox to win, 1% of me wants Beltran to get a ring. My ideal series would be Beltran hits like 6 dingers but the Sox win in 7 and I can relish in the Yankee fans claiming they don’t care but secretly you know their souls are burning on the inside.
