(Source) Don Shula turned 85 on Sunday and has been out of coaching since 1996, but that hasn’t stopped the NFL’s all-time winningest coach from ribbing on a former division rival. In a Sun-Sentinel profile to commemorate his birthday, Shula was asked to share his thoughts on the success of active coaching wins leader Bill Belichick. “Beli-cheat?” Shula responded. The endearing nickname, conjured up by rival fans and players, is in reference to the Spygate scandal of 2007, in which Belichick and other Patriots coaches used video cameras to tape the signals of their opponents. That’s the same year the Patriots took a run at the 1972 Dolphins’ perfect season.

What is Don Shula a six year old Jets fan? An internet commenter? Get a little more creative, Donnie. Calling the most beautiful mind in the history of the world Beli-cheat is fucking childish, man. Ever heard the phrase, “Don’t poke the bear”? Belichick was kind enough to not break your perfect season once. He was right there then decided he wanted to be nice and allowed you to keep it. Going and insulting him like this is just going to make him re-consider. There are graveyards filled with the bones of those who angered and disrespected Bill. Anthony Smith and Freddie Mitchell will tell you all about it. Watch what you say or Belichick will take your sacred record then pop champagne at your funeral.

PS – Bill would’ve won one, at the very least, with Marino.
