Ray Rice Wins Appeal of Indefinite Suspension And Can Sign With Any NFL Team

ESPN – Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has won his appeal of an indefinite suspension and has been reinstated to the NFL. Rice is now eligible to sign with any NFL team. U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones, who heard Rice’s appeal earlier this month, concluded in her decision, which was obtained by ESPN, that Rice did not lie or mislead NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. “In this arbitration, the NFL argues that Commissioner Goodell was misled when he disciplined Rice the first time. Because, after careful consideration of all of the evidence, I am not persuaded that Rice lied to, or misled, the NFL at his June interview, I find that the indefinite suspension was an abuse of discretion and must be vacated,” Jones’ decision stated.”Moreover, any failure on the part of the League to understand the level of violence was not due to Rice’s description of the event but to the inadequacy of words to convey the seriousness of domestic violence. That the League did not realize the severity of the conduct without a visual record also speaks to their admitted failure in the past to sanction this type of conduct more severely.”
It will be real interesting to see if any teams have the balls to sign Ray Rice. My guess is no simply because he’s the combo of too old and too toxic at this point. But make no mistake about it. If this happened 5 years ago he definitely would have been signed because he still had a bunch of good years left in him. Anybody who thinks otherwise is either naive or lying.
Regardless none of that is really here nor there. Instead this just confirms what everybody has been saying for the past 6 months about Roger Goodell. He’s a liar and a dictator and makes his decisions with no regard for fairness or truthfulness or ethics. He’ll spit on the Constitution and the law without thinking twice. The NFL and Goodell knew exactly what happened the first time they suspended Ray Rice. They probably saw the tapes beforehand. They just didn’t care. He has no morals. Only when this became a PR nightmare did they change their tune. And now Adrian Peterson is paying for it.
Bottomline is that anytime Roger Goodell steps in front of a microphone and speaks about morals and doing the right thing he is lying and everybody knows it. That’s why just seeing his face makes me want to puke. It’s one thing to be a scumbag and a liar. It’s another to act righteous and think you’re smarter than everybody else. Fuck Roger Goodell.
