Mark Cuban Thinking The NBA Could Be Back In May Is The Optimism We Need Right Now

So Cuban went on WFAA yesterday and had this to say when it comes to the NBA finally coming back into our lives

“Hopefully by the middle of May, we’re starting to get back to normal and the NBA is playing games,” Cuban said. “Maybe not with fans, but we’re playing it because sports plays such an important role. You know, people want something to cheer for, people want something to rally around, people want something to be excited about…

“I mean you know no one has perfect information right now, and so all decisions are tough. But, you know, if I had to guess based off the people I’ve talked to at the CDC and other places — I would say that the over under would be June 1, and I’m taking the under.”

Now I'll be honest, I don't see how the league is back in May. I mean one day we have Adam Silver saying the best case scenario is the league resuming in mid June and now we have Cuban talking mid May. I'm not a doctor and I didn't even stay in a Holiday Inn last night but my brain cannot comprehend how we'll be back to "normal" in less than two months. Even if it's in an arena with no fans I still don't see how that happens.

But here's what I also know. Mark Cuban is about a trillion times smarter than me. He has access to information that we can only dream of, and if he's choosing to be optimistic about this then I will be too. Nobody has handled this entire situation better than Cuban from an NBA standpoint. While other teams are slashing the pay of their employees Cuban from Day 1 has done everything right. Hell he could probably run for President right now and get some votes. I don't care if Cuban is 100% talking out of his ass, the fact that he said those words is all my basketball depraved brain needed to hear. Am I ultimately setting myself up for disappointment when we're still stuck in our houses in mid May and there is definitely no NBA basketball? Sure, but that's a future Greenie problem. Present Day Greenie is willing to bite on any sort of positive news that comes out about the NBA returning.

If I know Cuban like I think I do by watching him on TV and reading about him on the internet, he's going to find a way to make this happen. I don't know how, and I understand there could be some PR spin in this statement to maybe calm down the market or some smart people shit, but at a time like this we all need to believe. Remember, this is a man that took the Mavs from a laughingstock to an NBA champion. If Cuban says mid May then mid May it is. Please.

Just imagine a world where we are like 2 months away from having this back in our lives. Need it.
