How Do You Respond To Unsolicited Fitness Challenges?

The reality of Coronavirus is really starting to sink in today. It's Monday of another week of quarantine, and there's no end in sight.

When we first found out last week that we were being mandated to stay in our houses and do nothing—many of us thought we could rise to that challenge. Once the first hero rose their hand and said, "I'll do it. I'll do nothing," the rest of us timidly followed, and our couches greeted us with open arms.

However, after only seven days, we have realized that our capacity to entertain ourselves is actually limited. In fact, within the last 24 hours I have been challenged to do pushups by no less than six different people.

On the surface, asking someone to do pushups seems only off-putting and bad. However, the deeper you dig, the more you realize that the reality is actually much, much worse. Not only are the pleas for chest exercise a gross annoyance, but they are an ominous sign of what's to come.

If day 7 is friends seeing if you can do 10 pushups, what does day 14 look like? Day 21?

I refuse to partake in an out-loud reading challenge. We must come together and nip this thing in the bud now. So please, just say no. For a brighter future tomorrow today.
