Trey Mancini Will Likely Miss Opening Day After Leaving The Orioles To Have A Non-Baseball Medical Procedure

Some scary sounding news leaking out from Orioles camp today as many of the beat reporters are saying that Orioles slugger, Trey Mancini is leaving the team to have a "non-baseball medical procedure" done. Nothing more than that is being reported right now, but whatever it is it doesn't sound good. He's likely to miss Opening Day and some time after that, but that isn't even a big deal right now. I could give 2 shits about Opening Day if this is something serious for Mancini.

Brandon Hyde did say recently that Mancini wasn't feeling well and that was why he was out of the lineup for a few games. I don't think anyone thought twice about him missing some games. It's spring training, Trey is the face of the team, if they wanted to hold him out of spring games, fine by me. But this is obviously escalating the situation. It's also scary because of how scarce details are. Hyde mentioning that Trey is handling the situation "like anyone else would that is going to have further tests done" sounds strange. That could mean a lot of things, but we don't want to speculate on anything. We don't know what kind of tests, and we won't know for a while. The team has said they are going to respect his privacy, and that is how it should be. All we can do is hope everything with him and his family is okay physically, baseball can wait. Get well soon, Trey.
