Golf Digest- Tiger Woods will miss the Players Championship for the first time since 2017. His agent, Mark Steinberg, texted Golf Digest: "Back just not ready. Nothing concerning just not ready." Woods has not played since the Genesis Invitational three weeks ago, where he shot 76-77 over the weekend to finish last among players who made the cut. Woods said he felt a bit stiff that week and felt rundown after all his duties as host of that tournament, which prompted him to skip the WGC-Mexico Invitational, which he played in 2019. Woods also did not play in the Honda Classic and this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, which he has won eight times, with Steinberg saying at that time that Woods' back was still stiff and he wasn't quite ready to tee it up.
Me right now at this very moment in time
Well god damn it. Am I worried? Yeah you could say I'm a tad bit worried. Our guy Big Dick Eldrick has been doing nothing but skipping tournaments since his horrendous showing at the Genesis Invitational a couple weeks ago. WGC Mexico? Skipped. Honda Classic? Skipped. Arnold Palmer Invitational? Skipped. And now he's skipping The Players for the first time since 2017. Not great, Bob! In my mind there was a 0.00000000% chance Tiger was going to skip the Players Championship yet here we are somehow. So when Steinberg says, "Not concerning just not ready" it actually makes me quite concerned. I'd go even as far as to say I'm very concerned.
The only thing we can all take solace in is that nobody knows Tiger Woods' body better than Tiger Woods. If he thinks he needs to skip all of these tournaments in order to be ready for the Masters, do it. Go right ahead. Because the only tournament that matters these days is the one that takes place in Augusta, Georgia in the month of April. Prayers up.
If you wanna feel better just watch this a bunch of times
