The Crease Dive's College Lacrosse Weekend Preview Featuring Deemer Class

As we've mentioned quite a few times already, it is an absolutely abysmal era to be a defenseman in college lacrosse. And that's because the game is evolving and the dodges we see these offensive players working with are about a billion levels deeper than anything we would have seen 20 years ago. You've got guys like Michael Sowers doing everything he can to make defensemen look silly. Chris Gray, Jared Bernhardt, it seems like every team has at least one guy at attack who puts poles in a blender on a consistent basis.

So to breakdown everything these sick bastards are doing, we figured we'd bring in the professor. In case you haven't been following what Deemer Class has been doing with First Class Lacrosse, he's been dissecting all of these dodges like a surgeon. Definitely helps that he's a former natty champ at Duke and currently plays for the Chaos in the PLL. But nobody is breaking down these dodges like Deemer so he came on this week's episode to talk to us about what we're seeing out there so far this year and who his favorite dodgers are currently in the game. He's also the assistant coach for the USC women's team so we talk about some of the ladies we need to keep an eye on at the highlight factory.

Also on this week's episode we talk about everything you may have missed from the past week in college lacrosse including Chris Gray going off against Hopkins, Princeton is actually a wagon, and Penn State still can't beat Yale. Then we wrap things up with our college lacrosse weekend preview and picks.

Weekend Preview:

Same scenario here as last week. I'm currently on my way up to Toronto for the Barstool Pond Hockey Tournament so I don't have time to actually write out a full preview for all of these games. So for now we'll just have to settle for the schedule and picks.

#20 Richmond @ #13 Duke // Tonight, 5pm // Line: Duke -3, O/u 21.5

Pick: Duke -3 + Over. Time for February Duke to evolve into a bunch of shit kickers.

#19 Hobart @ #3 Syracuse // Tonight, 7pm // Line: Cuse -4.5, O/u 29

Pick: Hammer. The. Over. Hobart has scored 20+ goals in each of their first 3 games. They won't get 20 in this one and they're not going to win. But between both of these offenses, I'll be shocked if we don't hit 35.

#5 Notre Dame @ #7 Maryland // Saturday, 12pm // Line: Maryland -1, O/u 24.5

Pick: Terps -1 but honestly don't have any sort of feel for either of these teams.

Johns Hopkins @ #8 Princeton // Saturday, 12pm // Line: Princeton -2, O/u 25

Pick: Hopkins +2, Princeton ML.

#2 Penn State @ #9 Penn // Saturday, 1pm // Line: PSU -1, O/u 30.5

Pick: Penn State -1. Honestly I'd feel comfortable Penn State -4. I think after that loss last week to Yale for the 3rd straight time, they'll be out to destroy every Ivy League nerd they come across for the rest of the season.

Now go out there and have yourselves a weekend, boys and girls.
