Nike Will Release New Kobe 5's In March To Honor Bryant

I hesitate to be excited about anything that is even loosely related to Kobe's passing, but the truth is, seeing this news made my day. Nike is releasing another colorway of the Kobe 5's (arguably the best basketball shoe of all time) next month to honor Kobe and give the world another reminder of his greatness. 

Now the question is... will this drop be a limited release? 

It's up to Nike whether they want these to be profited by resellers... IE disrespect Kobe and his family.  In my opinion, the win-win for Nike is to make enough of the V's to kill possible resale value. They'll make money and we'll all be able to buy the shoe for a "reasonable" retail price. Otherwise, we're looking at Black Friday level chaos in the sneakerhead/basketball community.  

But...If the shoe isn't scarce, the vultures won't try and draft off of posthumous hype around a fucking shoe. If Nike gives the option for scumbags to, well scum... they will every single time. 

Fingers crossed. In the meantime, I'll be refreshing on sneaker Twitter furiously to find out the release date and make financial arrangements accordingly.

PS For Kobe newbs, these run a half size smaller than normal. Just a heads up
