There's No Way This 6 Year Old Girl Set A World Record Time For the Half Marathon

Fox Sports SW - Time to start feeling bad about yourself. A 6-year-old girl completed a half marathon over the weekend, set a world record and raised nearly $3,000 for charity. Abilene First-grader Keelan Glass ran 13.1 miles in 2 hours, 47 minutes and 30 seconds at the Showdown Half Marathon in Fairview, Texas, at a 12.47-mile pace. That was fast enough to set a national age-group record according to the Association of Road Racing Statisticians.

Umm what? World record? Are we just not including Africa anymore? Like, is Africa not a place on earth anymore when it comes to giving world records? Or is this the first step in finally phasing them out of existence? Regardless, we can’t just give Keelan this record and act like she’s earned it. That’d be like having a drinking contest and not inviting the irish or crowning a spelling bee champ without inviting inviting the dot indians. Certainly does not seem fair. Sorry Keelan, you need to earn your record. I’m going to guess you aren’t even the fastest 6 year old in Nairobi. Boom, roasted.

PS: This 6 year old girl ran 13.1 miles at a 12 minutes and 47 second per mile pace. How many barstool bloggers could beat her? Remember, she’s a 6 year old girl. I know I could beat her, but I can’t be the only one.

EDIT: Pretty much ever source is saying world record. Here, and here, and here, and here, and here.
