Antonio Brown is Making Nice with Ben Roethlisberger

Mostly you a little bit of me ! Yee yee !! I never realized how good I had it, got caught up in my emotion with everyone coming after me I really apologize for my actions sincerely man ! It’s never been another connection like what we done in the past decade. I appreciate you. Sincerely AB

Well, this is unexpected. A pleasant surprise out of Antonio Brown, given the swollen, levee-topping rivers of bad blood between him and Ben Roethlisberger. It makes you wonder if this gracious, grammatically imperfect message to his old QB shows that he's grown as a person. Maybe he's done some introspection over the last few months. Seen the error of his ways. Come to appreciate that mistakes were made. And now wants to make amends in a sincere and contrite manner to undo his past wrongs.

Yeah, at the risk of coming off as overly cynical, I'm going to go with nope on that.

This is the Antonio Brown who a few weeks ago was screaming all sorts of vile stuff at the mother of his children and the police who answered her domestic call and posted the video. This the guy who threw a rock at the driver of a moving truck because he wanted to get paid. This is the AB whose own agent quit on him. This is the Mr. Big Chest who is fast running out of teams to fellate hoping to be in uniform next year. So now he's got to pretend he didn't go out of his way to make life miserable for everyone in Pittsburgh. So miserable, that the Steelers decided it was worth the "connection" for a 3rd and a 5th rounder, just to be rid of him.

More to the point, this is the Antonio Brown who:

--Pitched a fit when Roethlisberger missed seeing him come open over the middle on a deep route.

--Openly Tweeted about wanting to get traded in the middle of September.

… and then skipped practice that same day.

--Went on LeBron's HBO show "The Shop," bad mouthing Roethlisberger. "It's like one of those things where, it's the ego," he said. "I don't have an ego because like, bro, I'm just trying to win." Then added, "The type of guy he is. He feels like he's the owner. Bro, you threw the shit to the D-lineman! What the fuck? I'm over here wide open! You need to give me a better ball! But it's like in the league, you're going to have a guy from the team that'll be like, boy, you can't say nothing. I need you to get out there like, but it's like why I got to be acting? At least ask a motherfucker how he feels first. Right or wrong. Right? Then if it don't matter how I feel, then fuck it then, why am I here, you know what I'm saying?"

--After Roethlisberger apologized in an interview with Michele Tafoya last August for calling Brown out after a game the year before saying it "ruined a friendship," AB immediately Tweeted out, “Never friends just had to get my ends…….shut up already.”

So again, at the risk of seeming like I'm not a trusting soul, I'm not buying what Brown is selling on this one. I admire the attempt. When you've run out of women willing to date you, it's only natural to try and circle back with one of your exes to gauge her interest. Talk about the good times. Try to convince her you regret if you ever did her wrong. But from the Steelers' perspective, falling for it again is what in divorced couples circles is what's known as "a triumph of optimism over experience."
