Rashad Jennings & Big Blue Set Out To Play A Little "Spoiler" Against SF

Last time Rashad Jennings touched the gridiron on game day, a knee sprain took him out in the midst of the team’s third straight win. At the time, Andre Williams had everyone believing the Giants‘ rushing attack wouldn’t skip a beat with a bruising second half. Fast forward to today & Big Blue has dropped four straight by a 136-62 total thanks in part to Williams’ sub-3 yards per carry. Injuries, lackluster defense and a run of strong opponents have played a big role in the Giants’ swoon as well, but the lack of sustainable production out of the backfield painted the offense into a corner. The return of Jennings’ all-purpose game should give the G-Men a spark & allow for a more balanced playbook against a 49ers defense that lost Patrick Willis but will welcome back sack master Aldon Smith.

If Big Blue wants to throw a wrinkle in Frisco’s wild card hopes and send them home 5-5, it’s their own defense that’ll need to answer the bell. With Prince, Beason & Thurmond done for the year and Jacquian Williams out with a concussion that might be asking a lot. You gotta wonder what Perry Fewell can do to slow down Kaepernick after getting gashed by Russell Wilson for 107 – but he promised a victory so I guess he’s got a plan to save his job. JPP’s backing him up by promising they’ve got the read option figured out. I’ll believe it when I see it – but Kap is not Wilson and Gore is not Lynch. Only the Bills cash in 6 less than the 49ers in the red zone, so there is reason to believe the Giants can bend but not break today. If that’s the case, the return of Jennings and another gem from rookie stud ODB could squeak out an upset & give MetLife something to cheer for. If not, let the new DC shopping begin.
