The “you have to have played the game” argument is so outrageous. Its absolutely baffling that anybody can truly subscribe to that thought with coaches and GMs. I always wonder where they draw the line too. Like did you need to play professionally? Collegiate? High School? If you played in Little League do you get credit? If you had some shitty minor league career do you really think that affects your ability to manage a payroll and execute trades and build a team? Gimme a break man.
