If Geno Smith Gets To Go On A "Mental Break," Then So Do I

NFL Trade Rumors – Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network expects the Jets to turn to Geno Smith as the team’s starting quarterback again in the coming week.

• Rapoport mentions that the Jets will continue to evaluate Smith and his performance throughout the season, which is an indication that they have yet to completely give up on the former second-round pick.
• According to Rapoport, the Jets are treating this a “mental break” for Smith.

Michael Vick will start against the Chiefs today and there is a chance that Smith could be inactive given that he’s dealing with a shoulder injury. Vick hasn’t been much better than Smith as he wound up throwing an interception and losing two fumbles after taking over for Smith last weekend. Smith, 24, still has two years remaining on his four-year, $5.019 million rookie contract. He’ll make base salaries of $585,000 and $675,000 over the final two years of the deal. On the season, Smith has completed 56.2 percent of his passes for 1,370 yards to go along with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Jets start 1-7 and their quarterback gets a nice little mid season vacation? A little mental break from all the stress as a refresher? Well then so do I. I’ll be out for Marathon Sunday today getting bombed eating wings and enjoying myself rather than letting this shitshow disaster ruin my Sunday like it has every week for almost 2 straight months now. Its gonna be another blood bath and I’m just mentally not prepared to handle that.
