On A Positive Note, Zion Williamson Is Just As Awesome As We Hoped

Alright, how about something a little more positive today? It's been an emotional time on the blog and I think we all deserve something to help lift our spirits and few things do that like Zion highlights. There was certainly a lot of hype for his debut, and after really not doing much for the first three and a half quarters you may remember his fourth quarter explosion

An awesome 3 minute stretch and one of the most electric performances the league has had this season. Even if you want to clown on him for looking thiccccc there was no denying in that moment he lived up to his must watch label. The question then became, could he do this consistently or was this just one of those one off performances where he got hot? Well, then his second game he went on the road to play a tough as hell Nuggets team and it was more of the same. A total of 15 points on 7-9 shooting

and this was important for a number of reasons. First, that he was able to have this sort of performance on the road against a top defense. Second that even with his limited minutes he was able to back up his debut with the same type of efficiency. It was just two games, but it was a good sign.

Then we had last night against the Celtics. A team that had been feeling good, gotten back to their defensive routes and won three straight. Let me just say this in a way that is perfectly clear. Zion made every single Celtic look like a child. Now remember, this is a team that will unleash Marcus Smart on the block against a 7 foot center and he makes that dude look completely useless. But watching Zion in this game it was as if he couldn't even feel the defender. He was once again dominant to the tune of 21/11 on 9-16 shooting in just 27 minutes

Remember during preseason when Zion was putting up insane box scores, shot like 90% from the field and you had to sort of take it with a grain of salt because they were fake games against guys who probably wouldn't even make a roster? Well, now the real games have started against real NBA competition including some legit ass teams and the production hasn't changed

Now in my opinion he still has a lonnnnngggg way to go before he could challenge for ROY, but I can't rule it out. My eyes won't let me. If he is able to play nearly all the remaining Pelicans games and he somehow carries them to the 8th spot which would mean they leap MEM, I think he could have a real shot. Especially if this is what he is going to produce in limited minutes. What happens when Zion is getting closer to 30 minutes a game? Nothing we've seen tells us that more time will mean less production, in fact it's the opposite. He's only going to get better from here which is so goddamn terrifying.

Zion's NBA career was one of the most anticipated careers we've had in decades, and while it's still super fucking early there is no denying he's off to a fantastic start.
